Have I really been away from my blog since November of LAST YEAR? Shocker! Well, yes, it certainly looks so… 😉 So sorry about that!
Let’s see…In late January I had my routine blood and urine tests, and for the first time in a very long time my haemoglobin and hematocrit are, drum roll!, within the normal range. Yaaay! No idea how that came about…the only big change in my intake is the astaxanthin pill that I swallow every morning at breakfast. But of course I can’t be sure it was that.
My test results looked very good to me…I am still stable, after more than 20 years, 27 years if you count the period I had MGUS (even I am rather impressed…). Yesterday I received confirmation from my haematologist who told me that I am doing very well…so I am very pleased today. Of course, the MM hasn’t gone away (!), but hey, stability is a very very very nice word in my vocabulary.
Another bit of good news: my diabetic kitty, Pandora, is in complete remission, and all it took was a change in her diet. No kidding. Basically, she is no longer eating dry food (did you know that sugar is used to keep dry cat food ingredients together? I didn’t)…Her diet now therefore consists mainly of monoprotein wet food, which has been enough to lower her blood sugar and keep it in the normal range. We found out that she was no longer diabetic just before Xmas…best present ever, joy joy joy…
Anyway, I have to go now…but I just wanted to let everyone know that I am doing very well, except for my constant worry and shock about what is happening in the U.S., my country of origin. These are very dark times not just for the U.S., but for the entire world…but at least for today I will try to focus on my test results and try not to read the newspapers. Mamma mia…
Take care, everyone. Take care…and much much love!
Hello Margaret
Great to read about your results! The Professor of Haematology who I have worked with all these years (Professor Arumugam Manoharan) has recently published a paper titled – ‘Simple and Convenient Anti-myeloma Therapy for Elderly Patients with Significant Co-morbidities’ in the European JOurnal of Medical and Health Sciences. It is worthy of a read as curcumin is added to the therapy of these patients and the benefit of curcumin -both health-wise and cost-wise – is discussed in the paper. Perhaps your readers may be interested?
Kind regards and take care
Terry
Thank you so much, Terry. Indeed, I am sure my readers will be very interested in reading the paper you mention, as I am!
I am going through a very busy period, which will certainly last through the summer, but I will try to post the link, at least.
I hope all is well with you, thanks again! Margaret
